How to Measure Your Pet for Clothes

Every pet is shaped a little differently — and that’s what makes them special! To make sure your furry friend gets the perfect FluffnCo fit, follow our easy measuring guide below. Our garments are generous fit styles, designed to move with your pet’s real body shape — whether they’re lean, fluffy, or broad-chested.

Step-by-Step Measuring Guide for both Cats and Dogs

1️⃣ Chest (Bust)

Wrap the measuring tape around the widest part of your pet’s chest, just behind the front legs. This is the most important measurement — it determines how the clothing fits through the shoulders and ribcage.

Tip: The tape should be snug but not tight — you should be able to fit two fingers between the tape and your pet’s body.

2️⃣ Back Length

Measure from the base of the neck (where the collar sits) to the base of the tail. Keep the tape straight along the spine for accuracy.

This ensures your pet’s hoodie or jacket covers their body properly without being too long or short.

 

Understanding FluffnCo Sizing

Our sizing is different because pets come in all shapes — and most brands don’t account for that. FluffnCo’s Generous Fit sizing is designed for a variety of body types, from slim cats to muscular dogs.

We offer two large-size variations to better serve different builds:

  • 2L (Long or Lean Fit): For pets with longer backs or slimmer frames — such as Border Collies, Beagles, or long-bodied cats.
  • 2XL (Broad or Muscular Fit): For pets with deeper chests and stockier builds — like American Bullies, Rottweilers, or large Maine Coons.

Both are part of our Generous Fit Collection, designed for movement and comfort. The difference comes down to proportion — not size. Choose 2L if your pet needs more back length, and 2XL if they need more chest width.

For slender pets, a closer fit (one size smaller) may look neater.
